Finding out short sellers information. How do you tell if a stock is heavily shorted? How does "short interest" affect a stock price? Where can I find short interest data for stocks? If we're trading equities we might want to know how many people are selling short, what they could if it starts rally, excessive short interest..etc What information can we find out about short sellers and how useful it can be to help us make trading decisions? How to know the short interest of a stock? OK.

How are shorts informed? How can you determine how many short sellers are there in a specific stock?

1) Short interest (percentage)
2) Short interest ratio (Short interest/average volume per day). Say we have a short interest of a million shares and say the average volume per day is 2 million shares, the short interest ratio is going to be 0.5
3) Days to cover (Shares short/average volume per day). If you're got 5,6,7,10 days to cover , it basically means how long will it take those short traders to cover those short interest based on the average volume per day we have now.
