Early signs a trade is not working out. This trade doesn't look good; do i cut it, do I stick to the plan - how do I do it? We have to be careful so as not to end up shooting from the hip too much i.e. your strategy is your strategy and if you get stopped out so be it, the other side of the fence is you want to be able to cut it early if it looks like its not working. OK.

Let's say we're into a trade and it is not looking cut. Do I cut it, do I stick to the plan - how do I do it? how do I manage it?

Let me show you some ideas that have worked for me. First, be careful not to shoot thru the hip too much. You have your strategy and there's an argument not to meddle with the thing and your stops. But there's another argument to be proactive and react to changing market conditions.

The key is to have this in your plan and to limit the flexibility to within certain boundaries. Otherwise you're end up with no structure which will do you more harm than good. What is your thesis for the trade? Is your trade a range expansion/trend play or a mean reversion one where you're looking to trade the mean?
