Can spread bets be used for longer term trading? Can you use spread bets to hold out longer term positions? Is spread betting suitable for long-term traders? Can spread betting be an alternative to holding stock positions? When you think of spread bets you usually think of a short-term trading instrument. And there's no doubt that they are very powerful instruments for that. OK.

However, day trading is very much different to swing trading or longer term trading. Day trading is arguably more tricky and more challenging.

So what's the best time period for spread betting? Can you use spread betting to swing trade the markets? Holding a spread bet for a few days or even a couple of weeks is still favourable. But what about holding positions for holding longer term positions (6 months plus). In such cases it is usually more efficient cost-wise to trade longer-dated futures (forwards).
